Project 4

1. I researched the phi ratio to get the whole shape of the art piece.
2. The subject was all the different patterns and colors.
3. I used pencils and colored pencils to draw shapes and color them in.
4. I used paper, a pencil, a ruler, colored pencils, and a sharpie.
5. I used lines and shapes throughout the whole piece. I used patterns and texture throughout the whole piece too.
6. My goal was to making a giant phi ratio and fill each box with a different pattern.
7. I think my strengths were my patients and precision. I learned that this was a very time consuming project.
8. I liked Amanda's French word with the sparkles.

End of Semester Presentation

Reflection:

So far this semester I have done a several project, some that I liked and some that I didn't. My favorite project so far was the wireframe map and the photography project I did. Next semester I want to improve my painting skills. I like to paint but I am no very good at it. Painting is a lot harder than I thought. I want to do more with water colors because I like how they blend to nicely. I also want to do more photography projects, because I haven't done many photography projects yet. I also want to improve my drawing skills. I want to master perspective because I have trouble drawing with depth. I also want to explore the art of calligraphy next semester. Also I want to try to draw some landscapes. I feel like I have a lot of improving to do, and I am exited to continue with art next semester!

Project 5: Winter Textures

1. I didn't do much research. I just went for a walk after it snowed and took pictures of things that I thought looked cool.
2. The subject is the snow and ice on the different surfaces.
3. I didn't use and special techniques, I just tried to make the images simplistic and visually appealing.
4. I used an iPhone 6 and a Canon T3i with a 50mm f1.8 lens.
5. There is a lot of pattern and texture with the ground textures. There is contrast and color simply because it is an image.
6. I met my goals by taking pictures that I thought were cool.
7. I liked the pictures. I think I could improve by taking more pictures, but I wanted this to be a photo set of just winter textures so I limited it to 8 pictures.
8. I really liked Connor's clay leaf. I liked how he curved it and I liked the gloss.

Project 5 Proposal

I am going to take pictures that represent winter with textures. I wont need any materials, just a camera. My goals is to take cool pictures. I will accomplish them by going outside and finding winter textures.

Project 4 Ideas

1. Phi ratio pictured above.
2. My plan is to draw the thirds and fill them with a pattern. Similar to zentangle but a little different. Then I am going to color in the zentangle patterns. I will need colored pencils, a sharpie, paper, a ruler, and a lot of patients.

Project 3

1. I didn't have to do too much research to make this. I just had to look at a map to make sure the countries looks accurate.
2. The subject was the countries. The countries are the only thing in the piece so I couldn't choose anything else.
3. I used a ruler and a sharpie. There were not a lot of techniques used because the drawing is pretty simple.
4. I used a sharpie, a ruler, a canvas and a map as a reference
5. I used line and shape when I drew the countries. I used contrast because of the black lines and the white canvas.
6. My goals were to recreate my proposal so I could hang the drawing in my house.
7. Personally this project was not very difficult, however that does not mean I don't like it. I was satisfied with the end result, even though it didn't take that long.
8. I liked Amanda's oil pastel drawing. The colors were blended really nicely.

Third Project Idea

I want to make something similar to this.  My plan is to take a canvas and put pins on all the major cities, and connect them with black string. If that doesn't look good I'll use a sharpie to connect them. My goal is for it to look really modern, and look good enough to hang up in my house.

Second Project

1. I didn't really do any research. I just had to find a house to paint, and I picked on that was in the back of my neighborhood.

2. I chose to paint a picture of a house, because I like houses and I thought it would be a fun subject.

3. I used acrylic paint and used tape to make the lines straight. For the grass I just dabbed the brush on the canvas. I used a scratchboard tool to make the bricks.

4. I used acrylic paint, tape, scratchboard tools, fine tip sharpies, and a picture for a reference.

5. I used shapes in the different parts of the house. I used lines in the bricks and the sides of the house. I used color in the grass, sky, and house. I used texture in the grass and the clouds. I used patterns in the bricks.

6. My goals were set a little high because I haven't painted in a long time and I thought it would be easier. Once I started painting I changed my goals because I didn't think it was going to turn out. I planned on having trees but time didn't allow for extra things to be added.

7.  I think it turned out okay. I had high expectations at first, but once I started painting I quickly changed my expectations. So it's not what I thought it would be, but it's okay for my first painting in a long time.

8. I really liked Amanda's project, I think it was well planned out and creative because there were multiple materials used.

Next Idea

This is a painting I saw at the state fair. I liked the way the trees looked and I like the way the bricks look. My goal is to paint a picture of a house in my neighborhood that is made of brick, and try to make  it look as good as this painting. I am going to take a lot of time on this painting because I want it to look really good in the end. I will need a ruler, canvas, pencil, paint, paint brushes, and patients!

Project #1

1. The only research I did was studying the wavelengths in garage band. I just imported the song and found the part that matched the quote I wanted to use. I cropped the song and expanded it to get a better view of the wavelengths.

2. The subject of the piece is the wavelengths and the lyrics. I chose it as the subject because I like the song and I like the way the wavelengths look.

3. For the background I used water colors and I put the paper on the clay wheel to get the circular design. I used metallic sharpies for the wavelengths and the quote.

4. I used water colors, metallic sharpies, pencil for the outline, the clay wheel for the design.

5. I used line in the text. I used shape in the text. I used color in the background. I used texture with the metallic sharpies. I used contrast with all the different colors and outlining the text with another color. I used pattern in the rainbow colors in the background.

6. My goal was to have more of a spiral design for the background, but that wasn't working out so I just did a circular design.

7. I like what I created but I think the letters look a little too cartoonish. I wish I would have tried a different font or something that looked a little more professional.

8. I like the way Amanda poured the wax for her candles on an angle, so it wasn't just straight across. It made it more interesting.

First Project Idea

For my first project I am going to visually represent music using wavelengths. And I am going to make a colorful water color background and quote a song for the section of the wavelength.
This image is of value to my project because I am going to draw the wavelengths of one of my favorite songs on the art piece. My goals are to use the clay wheel to make a tie die looking background with water color, I want to make the background look really colorful and psychedelic. I will accomplish this project by enlarging the wavelengths and using water colors and the clay wheel. I will need water colors, paper, pencil, and a ruler.
